The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) regulates the practice of medicine in Alberta. The privilege of profession-led regulation is granted through Alberta’s Health Professions Act (HPA).
Good medical practice – it’s what we’re all about
The College released a 10-year strategic plan in 2011. To bring it up-to-date, we reviewed the plan in 2016. Through focus groups, surveys and one-on-one interviews, we heard from thousands of physicians, government, the public and other key stakeholders. Council updated the Vision, Mission, Goals and Strategies May 2017 – you can read them below.

Our Goals & Strategies
The College guides and supports physicians in providing competent, compassionate and ethical care to patients.
- Promote excellence in all facets of medical practice, in all phases of a physician’s career.

North/South Doctors’ Golf Tournament
LOLS10在线直播下注 This annual tournament brings together physicians and health care leaders from across the province to raise funds for medical student bursaries. It is co-hosted by the CPSA, the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) and the Canadian Medical Foundation (CMF).
Regional Tour Program
LOLS10在线直播下注 This outreach program gives physicians, community leaders and the public the opportunity to meet face-to-face with senior College staff and Council members. also helps identify local issues and provide a unique opportunity for interactive discussion.

LOLS10在线直播下注We are governed by a that includes physicians, public members and representatives from Alberta’s medical schools. Funding is provided mainly through physician fees, although special projects may receive funding through various grant programs.
College Bylaws provide a framework for our day to day operations.
LOLS10在线直播下注CPSA Bylaws are issued at the start of every calendar year. Subsequent amendments are not incorporated into the Bylaws document until the start of the following calendar year (e.g., January 1, 2012).
